Turmeric Ginger Lemonade

Here is a new, refreshing drink for you to try.  Turmeric Ginger Limeade.
Turmeric is also called saffron here in the Caribbean islands.  It is sold in root form.

Clean and peel it like ginger.  Cut it in chunks.

Beware, it stains your hands, cutting board, knife, counter top and such.  If you clean up right away after, it is not too bad.

Also peel and chunk fresh ginger as well.

Fresh lemon juice.  In the Caribbean it is not so easy to find lemons so I used lime juice instead.

1 box apple juice
3/4 c fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 c freshly peeled and chopped ginger
1/4 c freshly peeled and chopped turmeric root
Combine all ingredients in a drink container.  Let it sit in fridge for several hours or over night.
Delightful!

Bilge Water - The Drink

In honor of Tom getting the second bilge pump installed and working, we now have a new drink onboard s/v Honey Ryder.  Sounds gross, tastes yummy....just like a second bilge pump....sounds gross, keeps you from sinking, which is a good thing.

Bilge water
1 part Sailor Jerry rum
2 parts pineapple juice
1-2 tonic water (ours was somewhat flat & it was still ok)
squeeze from a wedge of lime

Stir and enjoy.  Yes, this probably has another official name but on our boat.....it's called a Bilge Water.
