Sardines

French sardines, that is.  Tom and I had never had sardines.  I am not sure why but we hadn't until this season.  I noticed when were in the modern grocery stores of Martinique with all the wonderful French food, that there was a huge section of sardines.  There were many brands but more importantly, there were many flavors.  What?  I know....lemon and herb, basil and olive oil, herbs de Provence, sardines in tomato sauce, spicy and so on.  We bought a few tins to try.  They were yummy and quickly we added sardines to our afternoon snack of crackers and cheese.  Then on Dominica we went hiking with sv Libertine and needed to take an easy to pack lunch.  Bingo - sardines and crackers.   We took them on our recent River Excursion as well.  Tom keeps saying "Where have these been all our lives?"  We now roll with many flavors in our boat stores.  So far we have only tried the French brands.  They seem to have the most flavors and the packaging is upscale as much as a sardine tin can be.
