We are still learning to use our pressure cooker and thus trying and testing various recipes as well as making up our own. I often refer to the web site Hip Pressure Cooking It is a fabulous tool. Be sure to check it out thoroughly yourself.
Fellow sailors Joan and Pat have recently become pressure cookers too. (that is to say they are cooks that are now using a pressure cooker - they are NOT pressure cookers themselves. Hum???) The above web site has a feature "Top 10 Pressure Cooker Recipes of the Year." I suggested to Joan and Pat that we should take the holiday season and make all 10 of these recipes thus was born The Great Pressure Cooker Recipe Test of 2012. Why the rush? Why over the holidays? Am I trying to be Julie of "Julie and Julia"? (fabo flick by the way) Ah -NO. The push is simply to make myself actually try the recipes out and start using them if we like them. I know myself all too well. If I don't test them now with a time limit on testing, I won't get around to it. The stacks and stacks and STACKS of clipped recipes never tried are overpowering evidence of that crime! Getting Joan and Pat involved with their different model of pressure cooker makes it all the more interesting and fun as we can compare notes and such. And yes, I suppose I will be somewhat like Julie in the movie in that I am going to blog about the experience but that is just for the purposes of sharing the experience so perhaps others can learn too. I don't see The Great Pressure Cooker Recipe Test of 2012 movie coming out anytime soon. Ha! Stay tuned for updates.
